I’ve been teaching IB Maths for seven years, mainly AA HL and SL, and I still enjoy the part where a difficult question finally clicks. Most of my students come to me for calculus, functions and exam technique, but I also spend a lot of time on IA planning. I’m quite structured in lessons and I use past-paper questions early, so students get used to the wording and markscheme style from the start.

Hi, I’m an IB Maths tutor with a background in engineering and a soft spot for statistics. I mostly work with students taking AI SL or HL who want someone to explain things without making it sound heavier than it is. A lot of our lessons are spent fixing gaps from class, then turning to exam questions once the basics are solid. I also help with IAs, especially when students are stuck choosing a workable idea.

I tutor IB Maths on a one-to-one basis and have worked with both strong students aiming for 7s and those simply trying to get through HL without panic setting in before every test. My approach is direct and academic: we identify weak topics, rebuild them properly, and then practise under timed conditions. I also review Internal Assessments, particularly where the maths is there but the explanation and structure need work.

I came into tutoring through helping sixth form students with IB Maths and ended up sticking with it because I like how individual the course feels from one student to the next. Some need help with proofs, some with probability, some just want someone patient enough to go over the same type of question three different ways. I teach both AA and AI, and I’m especially useful close to mocks when revision needs a bit of shape.

For the past five years I’ve focused almost entirely on IB Maths, mostly AA SL and HL. I’m not flashy in lessons; we work through the method carefully, talk about why marks are lost, and keep a running list of mistakes that tend to repeat. That usually helps more than rushing through new material. I’m often contacted for support with functions, trigonometry and IA drafts where the idea is good but the maths needs tightening.

I teach IB Maths full-time now, after starting out with a few online students who needed help before resits. What I’m best at is breaking down crowded topics into something manageable, especially algebra, sequences and calculus. I keep lessons conversational, but I’m quite honest when a student is relying too much on memorising steps. We usually mix review, past-paper work and a bit of IA discussion if deadlines are coming up.
